Yamanaka Defends WBC Belt in Japan – Tuesday night, August 15th at Kyoto, Japan’s Shimazu Arena, WBC world bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka will be defending his belt for the thirteenth time as he takes on the challenge of Mexico’s undefeated Luis Nery.

Yamanaka, who turns 35 years old this October, has held the WBC world title at bantamweight for over five years. In Nery, he is facing a 22 year old who is undefeated at 23-0 with 17 knockouts. Nery is making his first appearance outside of his native Mexico, while Yamanaka is making another title defense on his home turf.
