Wembley Hosts Joshua vs Klitschko This Saturday – This Saturday night sees Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko meet with the IBF and WBA world titles at stake. Klitschko, the decorated former champion, has not fought since losing the belts to Tyson Fury back in November of 2015. The heavyweight vacuum in 2016 saw Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn move their plans into high gear and that activity has left the 27-year-old Joshua as the top commodity in the heavyweight division. Klitschko, who turned 41 in March, is back for one last grab at the glory.
Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing have reserved Wembley Stadium for the fight. In support, Hearn has put together a spartan undercard that counts on former super bantamweight world champion Scott Quigg, Olympic Gold Medalist Luke Campbell and Irish sensation Katie Taylor for name recognition.
With the clash of generations and the legacy of both men at stake, the heavyweight match-up at London’s iconic outdoor stadium (expanded to 90,000 seats for this event) certainly has the potential to be the biggest fight of 2017.
