Vyacheslav Shabranskyy Talks Sullivan Barrera Pre Fight – Golden Boy Promotions is front and center in the boxing world this weekend as they promote events in California on back-to-back nights.
Friday, December 16th sees GBP at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California with a full nine fight boxing card headlined by the light heavyweight showdown between undefeated Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (17-0) and Sullivan Barrera (17-1). The fight sees the vacant WBC United States title at 175 pounds in play.
Shabranskyy is ranked #5 at in the crowded light heavyweight division by both the respected Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and the World Boxing Council (WBC) and a win over Barrera would move him one step closer to a potential showdown with WBC world titleholder Adonis Stevenson. Currently, the WBC lists Barrera as their #12 ranked fighter, but the former amateur standout from Cuba is returning to the ring for the first time since March of this year when he was beaten by Andre Ward, who is currently ranked #1 at the TBRB.
Vyacheslav Shabranskyy Talks Sullivan Barrera Pre Fight
In this latest TBC interview, we caught up with Shabranskyy a few days before his fight with Barrera. Shabranskyy showed his no-nonsense, all-business mindset in the interview, keeping his eye firmly on the task at hand. It wasn’t until he was asked if he had a message for the people picking Sullivan Barrera to win at the end that “Chingonskyy” showed his lighter side.
Shabranskyy has been working hard on his English, but he wanted to speak his native Ukrainian for this interview. Translation help came from his wife, Deena.
