The Boxing Channel caught up with promoter Mike Battah earlier today to get an update on the Leija-Battah promoted event this coming Saturday night at the AT&T Center.
The live event is at the home of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs and the facility is hosting boxing for just the second time.
Battah's 16 fight live show is certainly shaping up to be one of the biggest live boxing events of the year.
The main event sees Omar Figueroa Jr (25-0-1) facing off against former world champion Antonio DeMarco, and the show also counts on Omar's 18 year old brother on the undercard.
Promoter Mike Battah was asked if the Figueroa brothers were going to bring fans from their hometown of Weslaco.
Texas and Battah simply smiled, saying “oh yeah, the valley will be here”
Battah also confirmed for us some details around some of the fights making the news.
He confirmed that welterweight veteran Victor Ortiz (30-5-2) would be fighting, however he would be facing veteran Gilberto Sanchez Leon (33-13-2) instead of Orlando Lora.
Battah also stated that the Heavyweight battle between Olympian Dominic Breazeale (16-0) and Charles Martin (22-0-1) is on.
Martin has been recently named as a contender for the WBC and IBF Mandatory spots and deserves credit for not pulling out if this fight with Breazeale.
Should Charles Martin win this Saturday night, he will catapult himself onto the list of hottest names in the Heavyweight division.
The complete schedule for fight week schedule for the massive AT&T Center card this Saturday night follows in this Boxing Channel report.
