Salido vs Roman Tops HBO Fights This Saturday – HBO is looking to deliver a slugfest this Saturday night as super featherweight veterans Orlando Salido and Miguel Roman meet. The pair of veterans each have well over 50 pro fights on their resume and both have a reputation for gritty fighting.
The card is a veritable feast for the eyes for fans of the super featherweight division as four high level bouts are scheduled in the weight class.
The vacant IBF title will be contested between rising star Tevin Farmer and Japan’s rugged Kenichi Ogawa. Farmer is riding a 17 fight winning streak that earned him this title shot. The title was vacated by Gervonta Davis this past August on the scales prior to facing Francisco Fonseca on the undercard of Floyd Maweather Jr versus Conor McGregor.
Veteran former world champion Francisco Vargas looks to bounce back from his WBO title loss to Miguel Berchelt as he faces England’s tough Stephen Smith. Smith, who comes from a fighting family that includes brothers Callum, Paul and Liam is hoping to notch a win in the United States after falling to Jose Pedraza back in April of 2016 in his American debut.
The final super featherweight feature sees Denis Shafikov looking to bounce back from a loss to IBF world champion Robert Easter Jr as he faces veteran warhorse Rene Alvarado of Nicaragua.
A bevy of promoters including Oscar De La Hoya, Eddie Hearn, Fernando Beltran and Tom Loeffler got together to produce this nine-fight boxing card. Check your local listings for start times on HBO.
