Roy Jones Jr Continues To Chase Cruiserweight Title – This Thursday night in Florida we see veteran former four division world champion Roy Jonnes Jr return to the ring as he faces Scott Sigman. The fight is for a cruiserweight world title with the World Boxing Union as the now 49 year old Jones continues to seek a title in the wight class. Jones Jr has held title at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight and his career has extended himself as Jones Jr cannot seem to get a word title at 200 pouds off of his mind.
Memirably, Jones Jr’s chase for a cruiserweight world championship had seen him rub elbows with Vladimir Putin and becom a Russian citizen, but to no avail. That bid ended poorly in December of 2015 when he was knocked out by veteran Enzo Maccarinelli in Moscow. Mnay observers and even fans of Jones Jr hoped at the time that the loss would signal the end for Jones, by he has gone 3-0 since to set up this latest shot.
Thefight is airing on the UFC’s Fight Pass Network making for a unique crossover for Jones Jr and for the world’s biggest MMA company. It is being advertised as Jones Jr’s last “walk to the ring.”
