Robson Conceicao – Brazil’s 2016 Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceicao is in Las Vegas this weekend to make his professional debut on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao versus Jessie Vargas Top Rank pay-per-view at the Thomas and Mack Center. Conceicao is slated to face Clay Burns (4-2-2) of Louisiana in a match scheduled for six rounds.
Conceicao is breaking into the professional ranks in his late 20’s after an extensive amateur career and is expected to move his career along quickly. Despite the late start, the Brazilian has big plans and they begin with this weekend’s fight.
Our Boxing Channel cameraman Marcelino Castillo captured Conceicao at the microphone during Thursday’s pre-fight press conference. The confident fighter from Salvador, Brazil was assisted in translation by former kickboxing champion and MMA promoter Sergio Batarelli.
Conceicao won Olympic gold in what was his third Olympiad after participating in both the 2008 Beijing games and the 2012 London games. Conceicao just turned 29 years old in October of this year.
