Ray Flores Talks Joshua vs Parker for March 31st – Saturday, March 31st will have one of the biggest fights of the year, a clash of undefeated heavyweight champions that may change the landscape of the “Big Guys” division. Britain’s Anthony Joshua (20-0-0, 20 KOs) will face New Zealand’s Joseph Parker (24-0-0, 18 KOs) with the WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight world titles on the line. The match-up take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in Wales.
As an amateur competing in the super-heavyweight division, Joshua represented England at the 2011 World Championships, winning a silver medal; he also represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics, winning gold. Anthony is the second British boxer, after James DeGale, to win both a gold medal at the Olympics and a world title by a major professional sanctioning body, as well as being the first British heavyweight to do so.
Parker as an amateur represented New Zealand at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the super-heavyweight division, and narrowly missed qualification for the 2012 Olympics. Joseph turned professional in July 2012. After defeating Andy Ruiz for the WBO title, Parker became the first heavyweight boxer from either New Zealand or the Pacific Islands to win a major world championship.
