Ray Flores Talks Super Welterweight TripleHeader – Saturday, October 14th sees the Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime Boxing hook up at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for a huge boxing card topped by three world title fights in the super welterweight division.
IBF world 154 pound champion Jarrett Hurd (20-0) makes the first defense of his title when he faces veteran former chamion Austin Trout (30-3). Hurd won the vacant belt this past February when he stopped Tony Harrison in the 9th round of their bout. As for Trout, he last fought in May of 2016 when he lost to then IBF champion Jermall Charlo and he returns for another bid to reclaim a world title.
Also defending his super welterweight title is WBC champion Jermell Charlo (29-0) as he faces the challenge of fast rising star Erickson Lubin (18-0). Charlo saw his twin brother vacate the IBF title now held by Hurd and move up in weight class, but Jermell is staying at 154 pounds for the foreseeable future. In Lubin, he is facing an American amateur standout who has been putting in the work since joining th eprofessional ranks.
The third of the world title main events sees WBA champion Erislandy Lara (24-2-2) return to defend his title against undefeated Terrell Gausha (20-0). Lara is coming off a January KO of veteran Yuri Foreman while Gausha is clearly making a leap in competition level in his firsts world title bid.
