Ray Flores Spins Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Smith Jr – This Saturday night, December 17th HBO Boxing will see the end of an era as Bernard Hopkins takes to the ring one last time to face Joe Smith Jr. Perhaps it may be better labelled the end of two era’s as the legendary Hopkins seems to have fought forever and he crafted two distinct facets of his career, one at middleweight and the other at light heavyweight. Hopkins has stated this is his last fight, and at 51 years old, he is already setting a high bar for those that follow.

By comparison, the 27 year old Smith Jr is just getting started. He is coming off a stand out performance in his last fight where he went to Chicago as a major underdog to face highly rated Andrzej Fonfara and walked out with a highlight reel win just 66 seconds after the start of the match.

TBC analyst Ray Flores is very familiar with both fighters in this clash of generations. Flores has followed the career of Hopkins closely over the last 10 years and he worked the Premier Boxing Champions event in Chicago last June 18th where Smith Jr scored his electrifying KO of Fonfara.
