Pulev Polishes Peter – Bulgarian heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev has defeated veteran Samuel Peter in Sofia via 4th round TKO. The win moves Pulev to 24-1 overall and nets him the vacant WBA Inter-Continental belt.
Pulev’s only loss came back in November of 2014 when he was stopped by then champion Wladimir Klitschko in the fifth round. Since then, he has gone 3-0 and won a couple of regional belts in the process. Pulev is looking to get himself back in the world title picture, and this win for a regional WBA belt sees him moving up the rankings. The WBA’s world heavyweight title is vacant.
Not much was expected from Peter, who was fighting for just the third time in the last five years, and not much was delivered. Though he has been as heavy as 290 pounds before, he was far from trim, entering the ring at 271 pounds this past Saturday night in Bulgaria.
