If I were to advise Walters I would tell him to face Lomachenko and face him as soon as possible. The more you let his team see of you in action, the more they might pick up on. The more you allow your buzz to fade the less you will be able to command at the contract table. The quicker you face Lomachenko the faster you can rob some of his fans toward your own cause with a victory over him and you will catapult yourself as the star of the division.

I think Walters handles Salido, he would have no problem facing a lightweight Salido because he's as big as one himself. He's been cultured in many different schools of boxing and he can handle himself in the ring with the best as he's already proven. Let's not forget the position in the P4P rankings formerly held by Donaire. This was no mean feat achieved by Walters. Darchy and Nonito blasted away by the Axe Man in the space of 5 months. If he were to face Lomachenko in the first quarter of 2015 and beat him then we would have a new force to rank on our TSS P4P rankings.

I saw Arum talking about Walters-Lomachenko for later in 2015. I still prefer to see the fight next but do understand it needs to be built a little more. So can accept that as long as this doesn't turn into another Gamboa-Lopez which Arum marinated way too long.

If this is the case, then how about we get Walters against Jhonny Gonzalez next? Its a unification fight and with Gonzalez's style can't help but be good. Its also realistic now in that Top Rank and Golden Boy are doing business.

Gonzalez makes for good fights and with his recent destruction of Arce now needs to step in with one of the names for one more nice payday. Its a fight too much like the Mares fight that is not out of the question he can win.

For Walters, its a belt against a name fighter and someone who stylistically can make him look very good much like Darchinyan did. An impressive showing again would really up the ante on his end for the Lomachenko fight and give HBO/Top Rank something to build on in the promotion for a Lomachenko fight later in the year.

So if not Lomachenko immediately next lets see Walters-Gonzalez this winter/spring.
