Miguel Cotto Speaks James Kirkland – This past week saw Miguel Cotto and James Kirkland hit the road to promote their February 25th HBO pay-per-view bout as both men came face to face at press conferences in New York and Los Angeles.
Cotto (40-5) will be returning to the ring for the first time in 15 months, as we last saw him lose a unanimous decision to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez back in November of 2015 on HBO pay-per-view.
Kirkland (32-2) also lost to “Canelo” in his last fight, as Kirkland met the Mexican superstar locked horns in May of 2015. Kirkland is on an even longer layoff than Cotto, having been away from the ring going on 20 months.
The two will meet at a catchweight of 153 pounds, just one pound shy of the super welterweight limit of 154, and though no titles are on the line, the boxing world will be interested to see how this fight draws with both men being off for so long.
