Menard vs Beltran In Depth – Veteran lightweight Ray Beltran (31-7-1) returns to action this Saturday night at the Century Link Center in Omaha, Nebraska to face Mason Menard (32-1). The fight is the co-feature behind Omaha native and world champion Terence Crawford’s latest title defense against John Molina Jr.
Beltran was originally scheduled to face Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz, but the rugged Mexican suffered a back injury that caused him to pull out of the fight in late November. In steps Menard, who has appeared on several Showtime Boxing cards in 2016, including an April 15th appearance where he scored an impressive third round KO of previously undefeated Eudy Bernardo.
Beltran is continuing his return to action with his third fight of 2016. Prior to his May return, Beltran was off for a year serving a suspension around his May of 2015 fight against Takahiro Ao, but he is determined to get himself back in the title mix at 135 pounds.
