Matthysse vs Kiram Hits HBO This Saturday – HBO Boxing kicks off their 2018 schedule this Saturday night from the Forum in Inglewood with two WBA world title fights at the top of the card.

The vacant WBA world title at welterweight is going home with the winner of the Lucas Martin Matthysse vs Tewa Kiram match-up. The fight sees Mathysse enter as a strong favorite to go home with a world title that has eluded him thus far in his career. Kiram is fighting outside Thailand for the first time in his career and as such represents an unknown quantity. He is hoping to emulate the example of countryman Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, who traveled to the USA in 2017 and became a world champion.

The co-feature sees WBA world lightweight champion Jorge Linares taking on Mercito Gesta. Linares is facing a fighter who has gotten a second world title fight after failing in his first bid back in 2012. That is a long time for Gesta to wait and makes him a very hungry fighter entering the ring Saturday night.
