Manchester Heavyweight Roundup With Kid Hersh – Three heavyweight fights were featured on Eddie Hearn’s Saturday, December 10th fight card at the Manchester Arena.
The opening heavyweight fight saw undefeated Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz stay undefeated with a seventh round stoppage of a game David Allen. Ortiz moves to 27-0 overall.
Dereck Chisora and Dillian Whyte fought a grudge match for 12 rounds in a match designated a WBC title eliminator. The two men battled toe to toe for the full distance and in the end the judges saw the fight for Whyte by the thinnest of margins.
In the main event, IBF world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua barely broke a sweat in stopping an outgunned Eric Molina in the third round. The big announcement came afterward when promoter Hearn announced Joshua’s next defense would be on April 29th of 2017 against Wladimir Klitschko.
