Lucas Martin Matthysse Talks January Return – Argentina’s popular Lucas Martin Matthysse was in Los Angeles yesterday for a press conference around his January 27th return. Matthysse is scheduled to face Thailand’s undefeated Tewa Kiram (38-0) for the vacant WBA world title at welterweight in one of two world title bouts Golden Boy Promotions has scheduled for the Forum in Inglewood.
Matthysse (38-4) is making a move to welterweight after years of operating on the international scene in the light welterweight division. Though his opponent has an impressive record, this will be Kiram’s first fight away from his native Thailand while Matthysse brings loads of international experience to the table. Nevertheless, Matthysse is aware that a world title has escaped him in the past and he is eager to make the most of this coming title opportunity.
Kiram was not present at Tuesday’s press conference, however Matthysse was at center stage. Here our TBC cameras catch Matthysse and his Spanish-language translator as they face the media on Tuesday.
