Lotierzo Breaks Down Usyk vs. Briedis – WBSS Semifinal – In this latest TBC report we are joined by our analyst Frank Lotierzo to look at Saturday’s opening semi-final bout. The WBSS will end in May with what is slated to be a unification bout of all four of the major world titles in the cruiserweight division and this Saturday’s meeting between Oleksandr Usyk and Mairis Briedis will unite the WBC and WBO world titles.

Both men are undefeated heading into Saturday’s fight. Both men advanced with wins in September when Usyk took out Marco Huck and Briedis outdistanced former heavyweight Mike Perez. Since the tournament was announced, Usyk has been installed as the number one seed while Briedis is the number three seeds overall. The opening round saw the four top seeds advance as no upsets were scored.

The second tournament semi-final is scheduled for February 3rd as Murat Gassiev faces Yunier Dorticos in Russia. Gassiev holds the IBF version of the world title while Dorticos is the WBA titleholder.
