Frank Lotierzo Breaks Down Today’s Middleweight Division – Sunday evening in Tokyo sees WBA world middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam defending his title against Ryota Murata. N’Jikam won the vacant title with a split decision win over Murata this past May, so the pair will do it again to try and decide things with less controversy. The widely disparate judges scores of 116-111, 115-112 for N’Jikam with third judge 117-110 for Murata has been the source of endless discussion.
Meanwhile, WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (25-0) is set to face off against veteran slugger David Lemieux (38-3) on December 16th. Saunders will be making the third defense of his WBA belt and his first fight away from English soil as he will be traveling to Canada to face Lemieux in Montreal.
The world is awaiting a formal announcement making Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin 2 for the first half of 2018.
In this latest TBC report our boxing channel analyst Frank Lotierzo joins us to look at the current landscape in boxing’s 160 pound weight class.
