Lotierzo Looks Back Flanagan vs Petrov – This past Saturday night in Manchester WBO world lightweight champion Terry Flanagan ran his record to a perfect 33-0 with a successful unanimous decision over veteran challenger Petr Petrov.
Flanagan, a smooth operating southpaw was making the fifth defense of the world title belt he won back in July of 2015 when his opponent, Jose Zepeda suffered a dislocated shoulder early in the fight. Flanagan put the unsatisfying win behind him in a big way when he returned in October to defend his belt against well regarded Diego Magdaleno. Flanagan, who is not known for his knock out punch, stunned Magdaleno early and put him away in the second round. Flanagan went a workmanlike 3-0 in world title fight sin 2016 and this win over Petrov would appear to line him up at the top of a weight class where big matches potentially await.
