Lotierzo Talks Golovkin Versus Martirosyan, Canelo And More – Saturday, May 5th sees the return of undefeated Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) defending his WBC and WBA world middleweight titles against Vanes “Nightmare” Martirosyan (36-3-1, 21 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson California. The event will be televised live on HBO world championship boxing beginning at 11 PM ET.
Originally GGG would face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but their much-anticipated rematch was canceled after the Mexican star failed two drug tests administered by VADA (the Voluntary Anto-Doping Association) in February, with traces of banned substance clenbuterol being detected. Canelo ended up suspended for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission at a hearing that took place on April 18th.
On this segment our boxing analyst Frank Lotierzo gives his take on Golovkin vs Martirosyan and Canelo’s situation.
