Looking At Khan vs. Lo Greco With Frank Lotierzo – Saturday, April 21st sees Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing back at The Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Headlining former world champion Amir “King” Khan (31-4-0, 19 KOs) returns for the first time in nearly two years as he faces off against Canada’s Phil Lo Greco (28-3-0, 15 KOs).
This won’t be a friendly match. At the official press conference on 30 January, a brawl broke out after Lo Greco, referring to Khan’s personal life, said, “After the Canelo loss you went on a losing streak – family, wife and then you go out and tweet to the heavyweight champion of the world. What is wrong with you, mate?” Khan responded by throwing his glass full of water towards Lo Greco.
On 17 March, it was reported that Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter had been hospitalized due to a health scare, but was recovering well. Khan later revealed he would train with Joe Goosen for the fight. On April 2nd, ESPN confirmed they would pick up the bout on their new app ESPN+, a $4.99 per month subscription streaming service, launching on April 12.
