Looking At Joshua vs Parker with Frank Lotierzo – The boxing world got big news at year end as it appears that Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker have cleared several hurdles in negotiations. The April time frame appears to be when we may see heavyweight title unification action as WBA and IBF world titlist Joshua prepares to host WBO world titlist Joseph Parker.
Joshua spent the calendar year of 2017 securing his spot at the top of the heavyweight division. In April he took down revered former champion Wladimir Klitschko to grab the divisional torch in front of 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium. He closed the year by selling out another soccer stadium in Cardiff for his defense against Carlos Takam. Joshua has set his sites on unifying the major heavyweight world titles in the coming calendar year.
Meanwhile, Parker grabbed the WBO belt and he has held it through several successful title defenses, including a win over Hughie Fury in the UK. Parker is out of New Zealand and at 24 years old and 24-0, he is looking for international respect.
No venue has been set, but the hurdles cleared include revenue sharing, so a formal announcement may come in the first couple of weeks of 2018.
In this latest TBC segment, we are joined by our analyst Frank Lotierzo to talk about what we may potentially see in the ring between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.
