Jorge Linares vs. Vasyl Lomachenko Open Workout – Saturday, May 12th, Top Rank Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions present a battle for lightweight supremacy. Ukrainian phenom Vasyl “High Tech” Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KOs) faces four-time world champion in three weight classes Venezuela’s Jorge “Niño de Oro” Linares (44-3-0, 27 KOs) for his WBA world lightweight championship. The event is going to take place at the The Madison Square Garden and will air on ESPN.

Lomachenko comes from a huge victory over Cuba’s Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-1-0, 10 KOs). In front of a sellout crowd of 5,102 at the Madison Square Garden Theater, Vasyl dominated Guillermo with his superior boxing skills, forcing the Cuban to retire after the sixth round. Rigondeaux became Lomachenko’s fourth consecutive opponent to retire from the fight on his stool.

In his last fight, in January, Linares defended his WBA title against Filipino boxer Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta (31-1-2, 17 KOs), winning by unanimous decision at The Forum in Inglewood.

Today the boxers hosted the media in an open workout in front of Madison Square Garden and our man Marcelino Castillo was there live.
