Liam vs Liam Weigh ins From Manchester – The big news coming out of Manchester is that the WBO interim title at 154 pounds that was to be contested between Liam Smith (24-1-1) and Liam Williams (16-0-1) will not be in play for Williams, who has come in well over the 154 pound weight class at super welterweight.
Smith a former world champion at 154 pounds is best remembered for last year’s loss to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in September. Though he fought a four round tune-up fight in March, this is his first big-time action since the Alvarez fight. Is failing to make weight the first bad sign for Smith or not? It remains to be seen, but what is known is that the interim WBO world title will not be going home with Liam Williams.
The weigh-ins for Saturday’s fights at The Manchester Arena went down Friday afternoon in chilly Manchester.
