Lebedev vs Gassiev Official – The weigh ins are complete, and both Denis Lebedev (29-2) and Murat Gassiev (23-0) have come in under 200 pounds, making their IBF world cruiserweight title fight scheduled for tomorrow night official.
Lebedev is the 37 year old long time champion and he is facing the challenge of Gassiev, a fighter who is fourteen years younger. For Lebedev, a loss could signal the end of his time in the ranks of world champions, but he was written off in some circles after his brutal loss to Panama’s Guillermo Jones back in May of 2013, but Lebedev has won four fights since then, grabbing world titles with the WBO and IBF along the way.
As for Gassiev, the rugged fighter who hails from southern Russia has been fighting as a professional for just five years. In that time he has captured several regional titles, and this fights represents his first world title shot. Since 2015 he has been fighting in the United States where he has gone 4-0 with 4 stoppage wins.
A second world title fight sees 140 pound IBF titlist Eduard Troyanovsky (25-0) defending his belt against Julius Indongo (20-0). For Troyansovsky, this fight will be the third defense of the title ge took from Cesar Rene Cuenca back in November of last year. As for Indongo, the 33 year old has held several regional titles in Africa, but this is his first fight outside of his native Namibia. The 36 year old Troyanovsky enters the fight a heavy favorite.
