Lotierzo Looks at Kovalev vs Shabranskyy – This Saturday night in New York City, Sergey Kovalev faces Vyacheslav Shabranskyy for the vacant WBO world light heavyweight title. Kovalev held the WBO world title earlier in his career but he lost the belt to Andre Ward, who has since retired. Grabbing the title that was once his is step number one for Kovalev, who eyes a return to “kingpin” status in the light heavyweight division.

If Kovalev is motivated and at the top of his form, Shabranskyy has a tall order ahead of him. The rugged Shabranskyy brings a solid 19-1 record but there is little on his resume that compares to the man known as the “Krusher.”  Shabranskyy has gone 2-0 thus far in 2017 and this match will mark his first shot at a world title.

In this latest TBC report, we are joined by our killer analyst Frank Lotierzo to take a look at this Saturday’s light heavyweight match-up. The fight is set to air on HBO and the live event at the Madison Square Garden Theater is co-promoted by Kathy Duva and Oscar De La Hoya.
