Kid Hersh Talks Luis Ortiz vs Malik Scott – Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing are in Monte Carlo, Monaco as the British promoter leaves England for a big show featuring heavyweight action in the main event. Recent Matchroom Boxing signee Luis Ortiz (25-0) of Cuba faces Malik Scott (38-2-1) of the United States.
Chris McKenna of the Daily Star revealed on news website Boxing Scene that Ortiz is a centerpiece of Hearn’s strategy to go international in 2017. This show in Monte Carlo is Hearn’s first full venture outside of the United Kingdom and is the start of big things for the man who most observers feel has the inside track on 2016’s “Promoter of the Year” awards.

Kid Hersh Talks Luis Ortiz vs Malik Scott
In this latest Boxing Channel report, Kid Hersh delivers a down-to-earth look at this heavyweight matchup and all it’s warts. The 37-year-old Ortiz, who recently left Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions to sign with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, is fighting against Father Time and this match was put together on roughly a month’s notice. In Scott, you have a fighter with a strong record on paper at (38-2-1), but his heart and reputation have been called into question by many observers and he is returning for this fight after a layoff of more than a year. By choosing Scott instead of someone from a long list of British fighters, has Hearn left himself and Ortiz open to criticism? With the fight hours away, we will know shortly how this one plays out in the ring.
