SRD, where you at? Are you going to be at the fights? I will be hiding in plain sight. Hehe!

I'm taking "Mile High Mike" to smoke the now zombie-stepping Marquez. But MHM will get jobbed in "The City of the [con artists --] I mean Angels." Holla!

Radam G says:

If Marquez wins, he will be dancing with Da Manny again. This time from Macau, where Da Manny will pay him back with a kayo. Holla!

This is going to be a good one and a fight I am really looking forward to viewing. I am starting to see a lot of people picking Alvarado.

As far as styles go, Alvarado is perfectly suited for Marquez. Marquez is the best counter puncher I have ever seen. He has success against fighters who bring the fight to him and lead so he can counter. The slower and more aggressive his opponent is the better for Marquez.

Alvarado is aggressive and I see him taking the lead trying to get off first in this fight. That's his nature and he's not going to change. He will be the more active fighter. However, he will give Marquez plenty of opportunities to counter. And that is what Marquez needs.

Remember the fourth Pacquaio fight? Marquez has getting out hustled. I see that happening here. But I also see Marquez landing clean counter shots at times and the crowd at the Forum cheering wildly when he does. This may influence the judges.

I see this as being a very tough fight to score. I will predict a controversial split decision win for Marquez in a fight where maybe most of us feel Alvarado may have deserved the nod.

A couple other things that may factor into this fight...Marquez is no spring chicken. He is 40 (will be 41 in August) and not a fresh 40 either. He has been through his share of wars as we all know. At some time, he will get old and it will show. Will this be the night he turns old before our eyes? If so, it will be Alvarado's night.

Also, I will say this right now. If the fight is close and Alvarado gets the nod, Marquez will still get the 5th fight with Pacquaio. Simply put, its all about marketing the fight and Marquez is much more marketable than Alvarado even with a loss to Alvarado. A close loss (mind you, I said close loss) would not take Marquez out of the equation at all and he would still be the front runner in my opinion.

I predict Juan Manuel Marquez squeezing by Mike Alvarado with a late TKO. Marquez is a crafty defensive fighter with plenty of KO power still left in his canyons. Mike is a strong brawler who is hungry and has nothing to lose and the whole world to gain by defeating a legend like Marquez. The keys to victory in this "All or Nothing" kind of fight will be the foot work, head faints and the countering which all seem to favor the veteran. Some fans are calling for the winner of this fight to face Ruslan Provodnikov next. JMM has one foot out the ring & the truth is that Ruslan Provodnikov is injurious to the health of JMM. The fans would not enjoy a 2-rd fight between Ruslan & JMM that would end up in a horrifying KO. JMM has stated that he only has 1-2 fights left in him so that being said why have him go out like a dirty sock. I see Juan Manuel Marquez doing a retiring tour seeking a title shot with a lesser threat of an opponent. JMM does not have a title nor does he have a mandatory fight & his odds are not as favorable like they were just a few years ago but his experience is well appreciated & respected. To see JMM fight is to show him respect for Boxing is what this legend loves to do.
