John David Jackson, Kovalev's trainer talks about his strategy in the ring against Hopkins

Sergey Kovalev had a great night, he won every single round of his fight against Bernard Hopkins.

His trainer John David Jackson of course had a lot to do with that result, and he tells us what his game plan was going into the fight.

The jab to the body was the key. It slows the other man down while keeping distance. I'm surprised Hopkins didn't try and get in his chest but I guess that first round knockdown changed his mind.

Great strategy yet just as importantly Kovalev has the goods mentally and physically to apply it.

I mentioned for months Kovalev can box, he is composed and fluent at all times.

Good eyes and good call. You saw those qualities in S-Ko from the jump. I missed them from jump and thought that he would be easily flustered by B-Hop. That was B-Hop's only chance, and S-Ko didn't give it up. He kept calm as a cucumber And was fluid as Niagara fall. Holla!
