Belmontes does have some skills. He is a solid boxer and has decent speed. When he boxes from the outside, he tends to do well.

However, he does not have the power to generally gather respect from his opponents. As such, he generally has issues with fighters who provide pressure because they are not fearful of getting hit by him. And Belmontes has also shown that he has a hard time of boxing for the full three minutes of each round. He will either languish on the ropes and try to counterpunch and slow down to the point where he can be easily caught.

I think early on Belmontes is going to have success boxing. Figueroa is going to show some rust and Belmontes may end up winning a few rounds early. But expect Figueroa to shake off the rust, start beating the body and start breaking down Belmontes. Figueroa won't be concerned to take a few from Belmontes to land his own bigger shots. When Belmontes lays on the ropes or stands in front of Figueroa (history shows he will do this), Figueroa will do some serious damage. I look for this to be an entertaining fight but for Figueroa to score an 8th or 9th round stoppage.
