Groves Defeats Eubank Jr By UD and Wins WBSS Semi Final – This Saturday in Manchester, WBA world champion George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr opened the WBSS tournament semifinals in the 168-pound class. Groves won his world title last year in his fourth stab and today he was making his second defense.

George Groves produced a superb performance to retain his WBA belt, winning by unanimous decision The match was scored 117-112 116-112 and 115-113 by the three British judges. A cut above Eubank Jr’s right eye in the third round hampered the 28-year-old. It was a nasty cut and clearly affected him for the rest of the fight. This was a huge victory for Groves who entered the fight as the underdog, but it wasn’t all happiness as he left the building with a suspected dislocated shoulder.
