Gervonta Davis Talks After Winning the WBA World Title – Premier Boxing Champions with a night full of fights. In the main event, Jessie “The Pride of Las Vegas” Vargas battles against four-division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner on Saturday, April 21, live on Showtime from Barclays Center, New York.
In the co-main event unbeaten former champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (19-0-0, 18 KOs) defeated Argentina’s Jesus Cuellar (28-2-0, 21 KOs) by TKO in the 3rd round and won the WBA super featherweight world championship.
Davis talked to the media after the match.
“The game plan was to box a little bit and open him up with some shots. When it was time, I went forward and caught him with enough shots to get him out.
“I’ve been working hard in the gym because I knew Cuellar was a strong opponent I had in front of me. He came to fight and I give him credit for that.
“My team put me back in this position and I’m thankful for it. I’m humble and focused going forward. I’m on the road to greatness. Great things are coming for me.
“I want the IBF belt back and I’m ready to unify it with whoever wins the Farmer vs. Dib fight.”
