Frank Lotierzo Talks Lomachenko vs Walters – HBO presented WBO world super featherweight title action last night as champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-0-1) faced challenger Nicholas Walters (26-0-1) as the main event of a five fight boxing card promoted by Bob Arum and Top Rank.

The fight ended abrubtly at the end of round seven. Activity in Walters’ corner signalled something unusual was about to happen and shortly afterwards Walters approached the referee and told him that he would not continue. Referee Tony Weeks called a stop to the fight, awarding Lomachenko a win that has to be called anti-climatic.

Lomachenko does emerge from the fight with an elevated status, as he went the full seven rounds of the fight and emerged practically unscathed. Perhaps worse than the damage done in the ring to Walters may be the damage to his reputation. Where do both men go from here?
