Frank Lotierzo Talks Kovalev, Bivol And More For Saturday – Saturday, March 3rd sees the return of WBO world light heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (31-2-1, 27 KOs) defending his belt against Igor Mikhalkin (21-1-0, 9 KOs), he fight takes place at the Madison Square Garden Theater and will be on air by HBO.

In November 2016 the Krusher lost to Andre Ward, a controversial win for some observers. Eight months later in a rematch, Ward worked Kovalev’s body to score an eighth round TKO. But even the second defeat was not without its share of question marks about low blows and the ref possibly calling an early halt to the contest. Ward retired after those matches and Kovalev had to retake his winning path, fighting Vyacheslav Shabranskyy on his next contest, defeting him and regaining the WBO light heavyweight belt, title he had lost to Ward.

Another good reason to tune in to HBO on Saturday comes in with the co-feature bout, the WBA world light heavyweight titleholder Dmitry Bivol (12-0-0, 10 KO) takes on Sullivan Barrera (21-1-0, 14 KO).

In this latest TBC segment with Frank Lotierzo, he takes a look at Saturday’s match-up and what we may see in the ring.
