Frampton vs Santa Cruz 2 Ray Flores Looks Back – This past weekend, the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas hosted the highly anticipated featherweight title rematch between WBA titleholder Carl Frampton and the former champion Leo Santa Cruz.
The two men have done battle for 24 rounds thus far in their budding rivalry, and the two men have gone 1-1, each taking a majority decision victory. Santa Cruz won the latest meeting this past Saturday, taking back the WBA world title at featherweight and setting up a trilogy closing showdown with Frampton at some point in the immediate future.
The two men have fought twice in the United States, meeting in July of last year at Brooklyn’s Barclays center and then hooking up in Vegas for the rematch. Speculation centers around whether Santa Cruz would be willing to travel to Ireland for the third meeting. Frampton, who is from Belfast, could potentially produce the biggest fight ever in his hometown where he has not fought in several years.
