First Look at Groves vs Eubank Jr – The World Boxing Super Series has announced their George Groves vs Chris Eubank Jr semi-final encounter will go down February 17th in Manchester.
Both men advanced through the quarter-finals with knockout wins as Groves stopped fellow countryman Jamie Cox in the fourth round of a heated battle while Eubank Jr sent previously unbeaten Avri Yildirim home in round three. That set-up the the highly anticipated encounter between Groves and Eubank Jr. Media sources in the UK say that tickets sold out at the famous Manchester Arena in less than ten minutes. The live fight card is being put on by Sauerland Events and none of the support fights for February 17th have been announced, making the sellout all the more impressive.
Groves will be defending his WBA world title at 168 pounds in this one, and Eubank Jr is putting up his lightly regarded IBO world belt. Groves won the WBA title this past May when he stopped Fedor Chudinov and a win over Eubank Jr would clear the way for another all-British showdown with Callum Smith.

The second semi-final at 168 pounds in the World Boxing Super Series sees England’s undefeated Callum Smith facing off against the lone remaining n0n-Brit, Germany’s Juergen Brahmer. The winners of the two semi-final bouts are scheduled to meet in the May-June timeframe for the finals.
