Humberto Gonzalez was born March 25, 1966. “Chiquita” Gonzalez made his professional boxing debut on September 1, 1984 and went on to win the WBC light flyweight title in 1989, he defended this title successfully five times and in 1990 he lost it to Rolando Pascua in a sixth round knockout.

Gonzalez showed his skills again on 1991 winning the title back against Melchor Cob Castro. Gonzalez defended his belt 4 times and lost it in 1993 to Michael Carbajal, The fight, which came on March 13, 1993, was the first million-dollar fight in Jr. Flyweight boxing history.

In February 1994 he won the title back from Carbajal and they met again on November of that same year and Gonzalez got the win in this third fight as well.

He kept his title until 1995 when he fought and lost to Saman Sorjaturong in a Ring Magazine fight of the year. He was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2006. Known for exceptional punching power in either hand, “Chiquita” is widely regarded as one of boxing's hardest punchers “pound for pound.”
