Errol Spence Jr Speaks Before Lamont Peterson Fight – This Saturday night in Brooklyn, IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr (22-0) defends his belt against veteran Lamont Peterson (35-3-1).
Spence Jr is making the first defense of the title he won in May of last year when he stopped England’s Kell Brook in the 11th round in Sheffield, England. This match-up with Peterson sees Spence Jr headlining New York City and the Barclays Center. Both are considered big steps up in recognition and respect for the young Texan, who is not underestimating the crafty Peterson.
Peterson went 1-0 in 2017 after sitting out the entire calendar year of 2016. That fight, in which he defeated David Avensyan, was held in February, so Peterson has been off for just about a year again.
Our “road warrior” man-on-the-scene Ray Flores caught up with Spence Jr as Spence Jr made the media rounds during fight week. Do not miss “Ray Flores Talks To Lamont Peterson Pre-Fight” for Flores’ conversation with Peterson right here at TBC.
