The Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, England was the scene of the vacant WBC International welterweight title match between hometown rivals Frankie Gavin (23-2) and Sam Eggington (18-3).

The fight was the main event of a huge card produced by Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing that featured 13 fights in all, including six regional title bouts.

The WBC’s International belt was also disputed at middleweight between undefeated 11-0 Olympian Anthony Ogogo and 16-1 Craig Cunningham.

Ogogo entered the fight a major betting favorite, however Cunningham had the better of the fighting throughout and by the eighth round Ogogo had enough and his corner stopped the fight.
