Deontay Wilder Defeats Luis Ortiz By KO – Saturday, March 3rd, Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime Boxing were at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (40-0-0, 39 KOs) defended his title by defeating fellow unbeaten Luis “King Kong” Ortiz (28-1-0, 24 KOs) in front of raucous crowd.
Wilder making his seventh defense of the belt and entering the biggest test of his career. After a slow start, Wilder ended the valiant effort of Luis Ortiz at 2:05 of the 10th round to retain the WBC title.
In the co-main event Venezuela’s Jose Uzcategui (27-2-0, 2. KOs) got his redemption with an eighth-round TKO of Andre Dirrell (26-3-0, 16 KOs) for the IBF’s interim 168-pound world title.
