DeGale and Jack Duel To A Draw in Brooklyn

DeGale and Jack Duel To A Draw in Brooklyn – The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York saw Showtime Boxing hook up with promoters Lou DiBella and Floyd Mayweather Jr for a terrific nine-fight boxing card that saw the 168-pound title unification main event between James DeGale and Badou Jack end in controversy.

Crowd support was about even among the crowd of just over 10,000 as DeGale and Jack put on a fine display of boxing throughout their twelve round encounter. DeGale struck early, sending Jack to the canvas in the first round. Jack would answer questions about his chin, as he stayed composed and he fought well coming from behind after absorbing a 10-8 round to open the fight. Into the later rounds of the fight Jack was the fresher of the two men and he appeared to be pressing the action. In the final round Jack sent DeGale to the canvas, but a tired DeGale got up and fought well until the final bell. In the end, one judge had the fight for DeGale, with the other two judges calling the fight a draw.

Gervonta Davis, the 22 year old who fights out of Mayweather’s “The Money Team” put on a standout performance, out-boxing and out-slugging IBF world super featherweight champion Jose Pedraza in their twelve round encounter. Already comfortably ahead on the judges cards, Davis broke through in the seventh, sending Pedraza to the canvas hard to earn the referee stoppage and the IBF world title. Davis becomes the youngest world champion currently in boxing.

In women’s super bantamweight world title action, Brooklyn’s own Amanda Serrano outboxed a game Yazmin Rivas to successfully defend her WBO world title belt.
