Crolla vs Burns in All-British Affair This Saturday – The Manchester Arena will be rocking this Saturday night as Anthony Crolla faces Ricky Burns in a battle for British bragging rights.
The two former world champions are looking to put a win under their belts before heading back out on the international scene. Crolla is coming off two straight losses in world title fights as he could not wrest the WBA world lightweight title from Jorge Linares and he is in need of a win to simply right the ship.
The case is more complicated for Burns, who is one of the most decorated fighter in British boxing history. He has been facing calls to retire since he lost the WBO lightweight belt to Terence Crawford. In mid-2016 Burns won a world title at 140 pounds when he defeated Italy’s Michele Di Rocco and a subsequent title defense against unsung Kiryl Relikh had Burns’ supporters thinking that the champion had turned back the clock. Burns’ latest run at 140 pounds came to an end at the hands of Julius Indongo this past April and this fight sees him return to operate at 135 pounds.
Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing are promoting a big 13-fight boxing card that sees the featured bouts air on SKY TV in the United Kingdom.
