Cotto vs Ali Media Conference Call – Saturday, December 2nd is being billed as a farewell to Puerto Rican fighting legend Miguel Cotto as he prepares to face Sadam Ali. The bout is promoted by Golden Boy and is set for December 2nd at Madison Square Garden and on HBO.

Cotto (41-5) is defending his WBO world super welterweight title against the once-beaten native New Yorker in Ali (25-1). Cotto, who just turned 37 at the end of October, has played top bill at New York’s most famous arena nine times before, and it is only fitting that his final fight take place there. For Ali, it is his second bid at a world title and his first attempt in the 154-pound weight class.

Wednesday, November 15th saw an international conference call set up for the media. The call was attended by both Cotto and Ali as well as promoters Oscar De La Hoya and trainers Freddie Roach (Cotto) and Andre Rozier (Ali).

Here, TBC brings the edited transcript of the call in it’s entirety. Though a respectful atmosphere reigns over the fight with deference to Cotto and his looming goodbye to the sport, it is interesting to hear what the pair had to say with the fight less than three weeks away.
