Breaking Down Concepcion vs Yafai Dec 10 – It is the “other” world title fight on the Matchroom Boxing card this Saturday, December 10, at the Manchester Arena. Getting most of the attention is Anthony Joshua’s IBF world heavyweight title defense against Eric Molina, but the WBA world super flyweight title fight between champion Luis Concepcion and challenger Khalid Yafai is expected to be far more competitive.

For the 31-year-old Concepcion (35-4) this will be the first title defense of the belt he won this past August in Tokyo when he defeated Kohei Kono. Prior to that he had two wins with an “interim” world belt for the WBA, so he has been fighting at a high level for the last several years.

Yafai and his brother were both well documented amateurs in England and both have been well handled in their pro careers. Khalid (20-0) is the first of the two brothers to get a world title shot and he is taking a major step up in quality of competition.
