Claressa Shields Talks Debut – Female boxing will be adding some star power this Saturday, November 19th as two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields makes her professional debut. Shields will be facing amateur rival Franchon Crews at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the undercard of HBO’s pay-per-view featuring Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward in the main event.
Shields won her first Olympic gold medal at the age of 17 back in 2012 at the London Olympic games, and she repeated as a gold medal winner earlier this year at the Rio de Janeiro Olympiad. Shields, who goes by the nickname “T-Rex,” she graces the cover of the December of 2016 issue of “The Ring” magazine as she prepares to make her pro debut. Is Claressa Shields the breakout star women’s boxing has been craving ? Her journey begins this Saturday night.
