“Go run a marathon” best comment post fight from Canelo and it was spot on. For those that will say Lara threw more punches. Yes. He threw more shots that wouldn't have dented a cardboard box. This is pro boxing. There's got to be some sting behind the leather.

Ultimately, Canelo's body shots had much more sting behind them than the flashy head shots of Lara. This is pro boxing and not amateur boxing. The weight and impact of the punches have value. This is why Canelo won and I thought deserved to win.

A note: Canelo is the first boxer in modern times to whip a world-title belt holder with just 24 head punches in a whole 12-round fight. And most of the body shots should not have been counted, considering they landed on the arms, elbows and shoulders. Holla!

That makes victory all the sweeter for the cinnamon kid. He got a majority decision loss against floyd, beat Lara (in my opinion) and will be eyeing up another big fight or two to end the year.

A sensational fire fight is what he needs. Golden boy need to put their foot down a little more or they'll taint the image of their money man too soon on his career.

Nailed it.

It was ugly to watch but Lara out-boxed.

You don't win a fight if you don't land punches. Lara won. That 117-111 scorecard was corrupted.

thegreyman says:

I'd say Canelo's career hasn't done too well in the eyes of the observant fan lately. When was the last time he had a convincing win over a serious, elite opponent.

He struggled with Trout in a fairly even fight, he was completely exposed by Mayweather, he beat up a used up Angulo when the latter made a no show in his swan song bout, and he had serious problems doing anything effective against Lara, with a very unconvincing win.

I fail to see the 'super-star' appeal, or maybe I'm missing something that the cinnamon kid's doing, that I'm not getting?
