Boxing Channel brings you the boxing results for this weekend:
On Friday, November 28 in Moscow, Russia, former WBO World light welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov defeated Mexican veteran José Luis Castillo via 5th round technical knockout. Provodnikov lost his title to Chris Algieri back in June and was forced to have another win to get his career back in track. In a post fight interview Provodnikov said: “I don't fight for the titles, I fight for the fans, tonight the arena was sold out, I have the most important title: I'm the people's champion”
In Denmark, “The First Lady” Cecilia Brækhus – Undisputed World Female Welterweight champion successfully defended her titles against Jennifer Retzke with a Unanimous Decision win. Two of the judges scored the fight 100- 90 while the third one scored it 98-92 . Cecilia remains undefeated as she defended the titles she unified with a historic victory over Ivana Habazin in September.
On another note, Tyson Fury got the victory over Dereck Chisora during their heavyweight rematch in London. Fury remains undefeated and moves up to 23 wins after Chisora's corner stopped the fight before the start of round 11. Three years ago, Fury won comfortably on points against an unfit Chisora, and this time he demonstrated his superiority and now targets a fight with WBA, IBF and WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko, one he has been waiting for for quite some time.
Closing this great weekend of boxing, the Century Link Center in Omaha, Nebraska, brought us “The Mexican Russian” Evgeny Gradovich vs. Jayson Velez. Gradovich retained his IBF World featherweight crown with a split draw against Velez; Judge Jason Cooper had it a draw 114-114, David Hudson 113-115 for Velez and Tom Schreck 117-111 for Gradovich.
In the main event. Terence Crawford retained his WBO World lightweight title with a unanimous decision win over Raymundo Beltran, two of the scorecards read 119-109 while the third one had 120-108 all in favor of Crawford who had no problem dominating the fight. Crawford mentioned afterwards that he wants to move up in weight to 140 pounds for his next fight.
