Ingemar Johansson was born September 22, 1932, he was a Swedish who in 1959 defeated Floyd Patterson by TKO in the third round, after flooring Patterson seven times in that round, to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Johansson became the first world heavyweight champion from Europe since Primo Carnera.

The Johansson-Patterson rematch took place on June 20, 1960, In the fight round a left hook dropped Johansson to the canvas for the first time in his career, he got up but was badly hurt and was dropped again by a left hook, Johansson crashed to the floor in pretty much the same way Patterson had when hit by Johansson a year ealier.

Patterson became the first heavyweight in history to regain his world title. Patterson and Johansson met again for a third time on March 13th, 1961, this fight although very competitive ended in round sixth when Johansson went down and out from a Patterson hook. Patterson . Patterson passed away on January 30, 2009.
