Several weeks ago, the news broke that Andre Ward had signed a three fight with cable giant HBO, paving the way for Ward's return after fighting just three times since 2012.
Ward was set to appear on the November 21st HBO pay-per-view headlined by Miguel Cotto versus Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Late on Wednesday November 4th, the Ward camp confirmed that he had been injured in training and had to pull out of the November 21st appearance.
Ward must hope that this is not a serious problem, and that it is only a small setback.
Considering the last few years where Ward seemed to hold out for big fights that never materialized followed by a long contract dispute, Ward has lost a lot of time.
Ward himself is only partially to blame for those problems, but it behooves him to get healthy and return to fighting as soon as possible.
The clock is ticking.
